It's One of Those Little Things!

Quote of the day: What if today we were just grateful for everything!

Everyone's heard of the expression "enjoy the little things". Well this is one of those little things! I heard this older song a couple of months ago and it's become my favorite song...ever! It puts me in the best mood every time I hear it. You have to listen to it. It's a must and I just wanted to share it with you. I have it on my itunes, in my car and even made a graduation dvd for Jul with this song on it. Tell me what you think!

In the mean time take a peek at the photos I have been taking of our gorgeous Fall sky while listening to the song. They seem to fit this song perfectly.
Ok, maybe you'll think I'm goofy but I bet it makes you feel good!

Hope you liked the song and all have a Lovely Day!

What the Heck is Zentangle?

Quote of the day: This is your life, do what you love and do it often.

What is Zentangle? The definition of Zentangle: an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured contained patterns.  I had no idea either. I found it on My Happy Obsession, Pinterest. http://pinterest.com/kmarks5/zentangle-love/
I don't know why I like it so much, but it makes me happy. So if we're happy, it's all good!

Hmmm...I just realized when I was in 6th grade going to Yantacaw School in Nutley, NJ, my bff Lori and I use to do similar types of drawings. We just called it doodling. We use to do it everyday with our names. We would do big bubble letters and put all kinds of crazy designs in each letter. It was our thing. We would make them for all our friends. Everyone wanted one! Who knew it had a name!

The other day I had an idea for Halloween! So I began my Zentangle.

It's getting there!
Lookin' Good!

Just needs a stalk!
Almost done!

Waa Laa! I haven't done this in years. I think I'm on a roll.
I will keep you posted on my next one. It's in the works!

Get out you pens and show me what you can do!

Happy Zentangling!

Pennsyltucky Punkin' Pickin'!

Quote of the day: Go outside and play once in awhile!

There are still 10 days left before Halloween, which means you still have time to go out and pick that perfect. That's what we did this weekend. It's another tradition we still all do together. And since my girls were home from college, Sunday was our Pennsyltucky punkin' pickin' day! We go to Grim's farm every year and it happens to be 10 minutes from our house. Yay for being close by!
This year to our surprise they expanded and it was even more fabulous than last year.
My girls were so happy to pose for me. That's because I take a million pictures of everything all the time. They were like "Mom we're not standing in front of that sign".

But you can see who won on that one. Lol!
Jessica found her perfect pumpkin but was just having one last look!
I am the worst with having my picture taken. That's why I take them and I'm not in many. But Jac was like, "Mom come on it's your turn".
So since it was a gorgeous day, what the heck! This really is a beautiful farm.
Jac and her bf Weston, aka, Wegmans, in front of the ginormous corn maze!
Yay...They let me take another picture! Look at the background...just perfect!
Lots of mini Pumpkins everywhere! Jul picked up 2. One for her and one for her roommate. Gotta decorate the dorm!
I had to show you these guys. They were so beautiful and very busy! It was hard to get a good shot. They just wouldn't give me a good pose!
He or she is my favorite. I love how it looks like a leopard with a funky doo!
We found our perfect pumpkins! Can't wait to carve them this week!
So if you are looking for something Fall-ish to do and have a nice afternoon, take a ride out. Here is the link. http://grimsgreenhouse.com I'm giving them a thumbs up! By the way, Dorney Park is only 15 minutes from here. Go see their Halloween Haunt. Here is their link. http://www.dorneypark.com/ It's worth the trip! Make a whole day and night out of it!

Have a Happy Day!

Get Your Pumpkin On!

Quote of the day: Today you can be anything you imagine!

Halloween and pumpkin carving go hand in hand. What would Halloween be without an incredible pumpkin that you strategically carve into a Jac-o-lantern. It is, has, was, and always will be the symbol of Halloween tradition.
But did you know that Halloween was an original Celtic Holiday. They called it Samhain, which meant "summers end". It marked the end of the Celtic year, and was used as a night to honor the dead. The tradition of carving jack-o'-lanterns originated with Irish children who first carved out the centers of rutabagas, turnips and potatoes and placed candles inside. They were set on porches and in windows to welcome deceased loved ones, but also to act as protection against spirits.
Halloween has come a long way. It is an all time favorite family celebration. Pumpkin carving has also evolved into an elaborate art. The creativity is endless as you can see.
This pumpkin is carved on both sides. What a great idea!

Who would have thought! I love this one!

Nom, nom nom! He is awesome and hungry!
Aw...Those eyes crack me up! So cute!

What an idea! Love those vampire teeth!

I guess the mice thought it was cheese!

Rhinestones, rhinestones, rhinestones! I love the sparkle!

This guy has stars in his eyes!
So whatever you choose to do with your pumpkin this Halloween,
I'm sure they will turn out to be materpieces just like ours!

Time to get your pumpkin on!

My Once Ugly Went Fun and Funky!

Quote of the day: The 2 most important days of your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why! - Mark Twain

I am a new born blogger and with this new venture of mine I needed a new space to do my own new thing! Sometimes a girl has to have a little space of her very own. You know? Somewhere you can express your inner creativity.

The first thing I needed was a comfy chair to sit my tiny hiney on. Lol!
My old chair was comfy but it was really ugly and worn out. I was looking for a new one but with 2 girls in college at the moment it was not on the top of my priority list. Pinterest to the rescue had a tutorial on how to reupholster an office chair. Hmm, I could do that! It was really pretty easy. I'll show you how I did mine.
1. Start to take your chair apart. It's very important to remember what goes where. Do one section at a time. I took the back of the chair off first. It actually popped right off with a big flat head screw driver. It is only held on by little nails.
2. I then unscrewed the back rest of the chair. Use your power screw driver for this. Keep the screws together. Then unscrew the arm rests. Next unscrew the bottom of the chair. (This is where I got excited and forgot to take pictures. Ugh)!

3. Measure all the sides that have fabric on the chair. Make sure you go all around the chair and give it extra for where you will staple in place. I never remove the fabric that's already on the chair. It's way easier just to keep it on.

4. Then I ran down to Jo-Ann Fabric with my measurements and started my hunt for the perfect fabric. Now mind you I don't sew. So when I got up to the girl who cuts the fabric I was like...help! The girl was laughing but was very helpful and got me exactly what I needed.
5. Iron the fabric before anything. I laid the fabric the wrong side down and placed the back of the chair on top. Watch your pattern. Make sure it is going in the right direction.
6. Start at the top. Pull the fabric really tight as you go. It's like wrapping a present. When you come to a corner just gather the fabric and staple gun it in place. Make sure it looks flat, tight and even all the way around. Lookin good!

7. Do the same for the back cushion and bottom of the chair. Make sure fabric pattern is going with the flow like the first side you did. Cut excess fabric off so it looks neat. Almost there!
8. Now all you have to do is put it back together. Hope you remembered how it went. This is where the hubby and an electric screwdriver comes in handy!
(One tip) When you put the back piece on, remember it had tiny nails? I thought that I was going to be able to push that right back into place. Nope, first I tried Velcro. No good. I finally had to glue it with wood glue and put something heavy on it to adhere. Other than that it was a cinch. Omg! I'm done!

There is nothing like a Zebra print chair to add a little fun and funky to any room. Animal print never goes out of style. It goes with everything and anything. Plus I did it myself and it makes me feel fabulous!

So now I'm a new blogger, with a new venture, a new space, to do my own new thing, with my new Funky Zebra chair! If I can do it, you can too! Let me know how your make out with your!

Have a great day!
